z :: some (brief) updates

Progress is good on my project. The 302 is out of the mustang and is on the engine stand awaiting a compression test and new gaskets. I am looking forward to pulling the intake manifold off to identify which early 80's mustang GT motor I have. I am crossing my fingers for the 220hp, roller cam model.

The stock motor is almost out of the Z as well. I have pulled and tagged all of the electrical wires and vacuum hoses, and the motor just has to be physically lifted from the car.

Unfortunately, due to limited financial resources, I have decided to cut a few corners on the swap. Most notably, I am going to try to retain the stock headers (which have low diameter piping and strange "twist" bends).

The motor cradle also presents a conundrum. I can pay a professional machinist what will surely be a considerable sum to build it according to your excellent drawings, or I can put my meager welding and machining skills to the test and risk burning through a lot of steel before I get it right and/or doing a poor job on a critical component of the swap.
